Anime Overdose was an anime convention held in San Fransicso, California on March 4-6. Now, being that I live in Dallas, Texas, I honestly wasn't planning on going to it, even when I'd heard that Psycho le Cému, my absolute favorite band on the face of the planet, was going to be there. My current mindset on the situation was "...my parents would never let me go to San Francisco."

So my outlook on the situation was pretty bleak. When my other self (who will be known as Saiko from now on) told me that she was going to go, I was like "WTF?" and looked at her like she was crazy. But, she managed to convince me to at least try to talk to my parents about going, because seriously... we didn't know the chances of PLC coming back to a Texas convention were, so we might as well grasp the opportunity while it was in front of us.

Anime Overdose was really our only option, Saiko said. I could understand why she didn't want to go to Florida for Megacon, but I didn't know why she was against Katsucon in Virginia... I mean, it was closer than AOD was (actually, she just told me why -- she'd heard it wasn't even confirmed that they were going there yet, whereas AOD and Megacon were confirmed). Now, how we would go about getting there from Texas was our next concern. Our original plan was that her boyfriend Cyan was going to drive down from Canada, pick us up, and we'd all have a road trip to San Francisco, but that plan went down the drain when we found that Cyan's parents wouldn't let him take their car down here.

When I told this to my parents, their reaction was actually better than I'd expected. I told my mom about PLC coming back to America, except they wouldn't be coming back to Texas, and we'd have to go to San Franblah to see them, and she gave me a strange look, but was like "I'll have to talk to your dad about that, but okay." My dad's reaction was more or less the same. "Okay." So it was official -- I was going to San Francisco.

I wanted to do a Psycho le Cému cosplay, obviously because they would be there, not to mention it'd be fun as hell to do. Our (Saiko and myself) original plan was to do a Gekiai Merry-go-Round cosplay (Saiko as seek and myself as AYA, Cyan would've been Lida if he had come with us), but after looking at some other costume sets, we decided that the white Frontiers/With PV set would be much easier to handle. Saiko settled on being DAISHI (lucky ho, she got off easily), while I went with YURA-sama.

Thus, the next two months were spent buying stuff, putting things together, looking for people to room with at the convention since we're poor white girls who couldn't afford to pay for a hotel room, and chaotic things in general. It was decided that we'd take a bus to get there, even though we'd be on said bus for four days total (two days there, two days back -- this later rounded out to 38 hours on the way there, and 49 on the way back). So we bought our bus tickets, and con registration, and VIP bags, and whatnot. I didn't want my parents to have to pay for all of this themselves, I wanted to take some responsibility for it for a change, so I went and donated plasma a couple of times, getting $50 total for both sessions... but getting that money was more painful than anything else... I ended up passing out after going both times, so my parents and I both decided that that wasn't the best way to earn the money, so I stopped going to do that.

So now, two months later, after buying everything we needed, putting our costumes together, getting money from people (we ended up with around $250 in spending money), and making all necessary preparations, we were finally ready to depart on March 1st.
